Our Story
Ours is a story born from love—the kind of love that gives, sacrifices, and refuses to give up. It is the story of a mother who would do anything to ensure her children prospered. A mother whose life reflected the very essence of Africa—the Motherland—nurturing, resilient, and full of unwavering strength.
Busisiwe Bhembe was not just a mother to her own children—she was a mother to many. She never met a stranger. Her life was marked by warmth, generosity, and quiet acts of service that touched everyone she encountered. She led not with titles, but with humility. Not with words, but with action.
When she passed on in January 2021 due to COVID-19 complications, a light dimmed—but her legacy did not end. Her daughter, Colisile Tfwala, made a decision: To carry that love forward, to expand it beyond family, to turn it into a force for transformation across Africa and among people of African descent.
And so, the Busisiwe Bhembe Foundation was born. Today, our work is driven by that same spirit of service—rooted in love, guided by purpose, and fueled by a deep commitment to justice. Because when you look at the history of Africans and people of African descent, you see more than struggle—you see injustice that has stripped identity, diminished worth, and disrupted the ability to build wealth and independence. We exist to change that story!
Through financial literacy, youth mentorship, and entrepreneurship development, we are equipping individuals to reclaim their power, rebuild their confidence, and create generational wealth. But at the heart of our work are the most vulnerable—orphaned and vulnerable children.
These are children who have faced loss, uncertainty, and hardship. Yet within them lies untapped potential, brilliance, and greatness waiting to be awakened.
Through our programs, we nurture: Healing where there has been pain, confidence where there has been doubt, leadership where there has been silence, financial capability where there has been limitation. We are not just changing lives—we are restoring dignity, rebuilding futures, and raising a generation that will lead, create, and thrive!

Impact using four main programmes.
Even without significant donor funding, the Busisiwe Bhembe Foundation has already made meaningful strides: Mentored 40 young people, trained over 650 individuals in value addition, reached and coached more than 6,000 people across Eswatini, South Africa, and Lesotho in financial literacy, empowered 76 orphaned and vulnerable children with personal development and financial skills. These milestones reflect what is possible through passion, purpose, and commitment. Now, we are opening the door to donor partnerships—so we can magnify and accelerate this impact.
